This dark box car red 40' double sheathed wood box car with single door and vertical breakwheel, runs on black Bettendorf trucks. This car displays the standard paint scheme used between 1942 and 1948, the arched Northern Pacific lettering to the left of the door and the 3' monad to the door's right. The monad symbol of yin and yang originates in the ancient Chinese philosophy and metaphysics, which describes two primal opposing but complementary forces found in all things in the universe. E.H. McHenry, chief engineer of the Northern Pacific, saw the design on the Korean flag at the 1893 Chicago World's fair.
