This dark blue 60' 8" Thrall® centerbeam flat car has white lettering and runs on black Barber® roller bearing trucks. Built by Thrall® Manufacturing Co., this series has been spotted on the rails primarily in the western U.S., but a few have made it deep into the Midwest and even as far east as Virginia. By the early 1980s almost all lumber was moving on bulkhead flatcars. However, lumber producers prefer the centerbeam flat cars over all other lumber-hauling cars because of their ease of loading and the amount of lumber that can be loaded on one car.
