This black 39' single dome tank car displays the bright multi-colored 'Sunoco' herald, with white lettering and run on black Bettendorf trucks. They were built in 1956 and leased to the Sun Oil Company to haul naphthalene. Naphthalene is a natural constituent of coal tar, present in gasoline and diesel fuels and used in the manufacture of mothballs. Sunoco got its start on March 27, 1886. On March 17, 1890, it became The Sun Oil Company of Ohio and was producing, transporting and storing oil as well as refining, shipping and marketing petroleum products.
