Penn Central
Road Number PC 160252
This 50' standard box car with single Youngstown door and no roofwalk is painted PC green, sports the large 'worm' logo and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. In 1965 thru 1967, the New York Central's Beech Grove, Indiana shops took a number of old NYC forty-foot box cars and stretched them into fifty-footers, giving them a new lot assignment. Penn Central continued with this program through 1969, under which the cars gained new lot numbers. The ex-NYC 40' boxcars were from series 164000-166999, built by the DSI shops (Despatch Shops Inc., East Rochester, NY) in October 1947.
