101 00 030 40' Hy-Cube Denver & Rio Grande Western #67429 (N Scale)

This box car red 40' Hy-Cube has white "Rio Grande-the Action Road" speed lettering and runs on black roller bearing trucks. Part of a small 4 car order, sub-group 67427-67430, these 40-foot Hy-Cubes were built at Pullman-Standard's Bessemer Plant in November 1967, as lot 9255A; they were an addition to an earlier CB&Q order and were placed into Whirlpool Company service. Assigned to the NYC at Evansville, IN, they ride on a Hydroframe-20 cushion underframe equipped with Evans DF-2 belt rails and rated at the full 4900 cu. ft. capacity, reflecting the lack of interior load dividers.
