THT Intermountain AC-12 Sound Package
This Package includes the decoder, speaker and work as described below.
- Disassemble tender
- Modify Tender to accept decoder and speaker. We do a bit of work inside the tender to maximize the sound output.
- Install SoundTraxx Cab Forward Steam Sound decoder wired to NMRA 8 pin plug
- Install speaker
- Program decoder sound and CV's with TopHobbyTrains' CV set
- Test loco forward and back at various speeds over turnouts and grades on our layout
Operating Note: The Intermountain AC12 is a low geared locomotive. This means that it does not run very fast. This locomotive also has a high starting voltage. In programming the loco we have balanced the motor control and the sound mix so that the Tsunami decoder performs at its optimal level.

Here is what we do:
- Dissemble loco
- modify stock circuit board
- Mill Frame to accept LokSound Speakers
- Hard wire LokSound Micro decoder to Stock light board
- Install LokSound speakers in fuel tank
- Modify both front and rear light tubes
- Replace yellow headlight and rear light with SM LEDS (DCC controlled)
- Custom wire in 2 SM LEDs for the flashing ditch lights (DCC controlled)
- Load custom programming and sound project to decoder
- Each loco is tested for all functions and operation running for
ward and back over turnout and hills
LokSound micro a new member of the successful LokSound family by ESU. Sized incredibly, 28mm x 10mm x 5mm, it is so small that it will fit in N and TT scale engines without difficulty. The inventor of LokSound technology delivers yet another impressive proof of the possibilities of miniaturization by the use of cutting edge technology. You won?t have to compromise with the size: LokSound micro is a complete digital decoder that operates on DCC, Motorola or Selectrix, as well as on conventional DC mode. All the prime mover sounds are active in DC operation. Besides an outstanding back EMF and super silent running due to 32kHz pulse frequency, the LokSound micro offers two outputs for light functions and two additional function outputs, suitable for smoke generators or cab lights.
The sound features of the LokSound micro are identical to those of the renowned LokSound V3.5 decoder and offer the latest in technology and flexibility: 4-channel, load dependent sound, stored on a 8Mbit flash memory chip for up to 65 seconds of sound recordings, capable to reproduce all typical diesel, steam and electric locomotive sounds. New speakers in the sizes 16 x 25mm and 13mm in connection with a 0.5-Watt high performance amplifier ensure great sound in small engines. Of course, all sound files can be modified with the LokSound Programmer. Choose from over 200 sound projects available for free on our website or put on your own recordings!
