THT Kato EMD E Unit Sound package installation (DCC-LokSound and Simulated MARS light whe applicable) (N Scale)
Sound and Light package for Kato N Scale EMD E8 locomotives. Where appropriate the simulated mars lighting is professionally installed by TopHobbyTrains.
Please note that: We use the LokSound Micro sound decoder not the so called drop in entry level sound decoders.
Give your layout and running sessions the dimension of sound with TopHobby's Kato EMD E unit sound and light package. The LokSound decoder faithfully reproduces the distinctive sounds of the EMD 567prime mover. The Nathan 5K horn chimes perfectly. Operation of the loco is smooth and consistent through the throttle range.
Here is what we do: The total time needed is about 3.5 hours.
- Dissemble the loco
- Mill the frame to accept the LokSound Micro and 2 0.5" speakers
- Isolate the motor
- modify and hard wire the decoder to existing light board
- For MARS light installations we replace the headlight and wire in 2 SM LEDs (color corrected) for standard headlights we replcae the yellow LED with a white LED
- Program the decoder for Headlight /Mars light operation as appropriate. Install TopHobbyTrains custom sound package
- Lubricate the tower gears.
- Test loco for proper operation and running characteristics
